Milliken Carpet Tiles
The installation of these Milliken carpet tiles at Soho Estates in Leicester Square demonstrates a bespoke, "pixelated" design approach that transforms the floor into a vibrant focal point.
Design & Installation Details:
-
Custom Gradient Infill: Instead of a standard uniform layout, you utilized a "random-linear" installation. By varying the widths of the red, orange, and yellow infill tiles against the charcoal base, you've created a sense of dynamic movement that leads the eye toward the private meeting rooms.
-
Precision Cutting: Achieving this look required meticulous hand-cutting of the Milliken tiles to different widths. Each "stripe" is perfectly butt-jointed to the main field tiles, ensuring no visible gaps or fraying while maintaining a consistent pile height across the floor.

Transition Carpet Tiles
Soho W1 installation by Soho Maintenance, these transition carpet tiles were installed following a precise, multi-step process to ensure a high-end, durable finish
Directional Laying: Transition tiles are often laid in a monolithic or quarter-turn pattern to create a kinetic, non-uniform look that hides seams and high-traffic wear better than traditional broadloom.
Floor Preparation
Subfloor Preparation Process
Priming: The subfloor (existing tiles) has been primed with what appears to be a green liquid-applied primer. This is a critical step to ensure the screed adheres properly to the non-porous tile surface
Screeding: A self-leveling smoothing compound (the tan-colored material) is being applied over the primed tiles. This creates a perfectly flat and smooth surface, preventing any grout lines or tile imperfections from "telegraphing" through the new carpet.
